  • As part of communications role, write profiles of UTM researchers mainly for the website to highlight the excellent research being done on this campus
  • use social media outlets and a newsletter to communicate deadlines, profiles, researchers in the media, awards info, events, etc..
  • In Grants-manager role, help researchers identify relevant funding opportunities, communicate deadlines and also review grant-application proposals that are being submitted for grant competitions, particularly to the tri-Council of Canada (SSHRC, NSERC and CIHR).
  • Help to administer and coordinate adjudication of various internal research funding competitions.
  • Oversee an ethics review committee, which reviews and (hopefully) approves protocols that are submitted by undergraduate students who are conducting research using human participants. This role requires being fairly up-to-date with current ethics in research policies to ensure compliance with UofT’s Ethics Review Board and TCPS (Tri-Council Policy Statement) on ethics.
  • Provide one-on-one consultations to faculty members who want to discuss their research projects and find out more about the funding landscape at U of T and in Canada.
